Met Office weather warnings have been issued
The has issued five weather warnings as stormy weather and heavy gales are set to blast into Britain within hours.
The national forecaster has issued the alert covering the East Midlands, Yorkshire & Humber, North West England, North East England, and Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian & Borders.
It is in place for 11 hours between 3am on Wednesday morning until 2pm the same day.

Wind maps show heavy gales are expected
The warnings reads: “West to southwesterly winds will become particularly gusty over and to the east/northeast of hills late Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
“Gusts of 50-60 mph are possible in some areas, and potentially higher in more exposed places.
“This may cause difficult travelling conditions, especially on higher level and north-south routes.”

It also warns that some bus and train services will be “possibly affected”, with a chance of travel chaos on some journeys.
Meanwhile there could be “delays for high-sided vehicles” in particular on exposed routes and bridges.
The is warning of “some delays to road, rail and air transport”.
