The Queen has followed in the footsteps of the late as she often would carefully select brooches to convey a sweet message or tribute, and had over 100 of her own which are now kept in the royal vault.

Steven Stone added that she has worn it to public events often. They said she donned the look on “Christmas Day in 2016 and during a farewell to the Emperor and Empress of Japan.

Its significance was especially poignant when she wore it recently while meeting children with ill health, as moths symbolise healing and transformation – representing strength and beauty through change.”

Meanwhile, they said that Queen Camilla is fond of insect brooches which may be down to her love of the outdoors and gardening.

The horsefly brooch is said to be worth at least £5,000, and the experts shared that it is: “Crafted from yellow gold, the piece features a detailed horsefly design, with sapphires adorning its body and eyes, and diamond-encrusted wings.”

Steven Stone continued: “While its origins remain a mystery, the brooch – which captivated royal enthusiasts and jewellery experts when Her Majesty debuted it earlier this year – is believed to be part of the collection inherited from Queen Elizabeth II. It’s much smaller than the horsefly brooch, thus, I’d value it at the much lower price of £5,000.”
