Sunday Brunch descends into chaos as Joe Lycett baffled by ‘rude’ name of new segment

Sunday Brunch guest Joe Lycett couldn’t help questioning the name of a new segment of the Channel 4 programme when he joined this Sunday (December 15).

This week’s table was packed with famous faces as Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer welcomed Melanie Hill, Chris van Tulleken, Pepsi & Shirlie, Majestic and more to the popular cooking and chat show.

After the first break, the episode continued with a recap of three of Simon’s favourite recipes from 2024.

Tim explained: “Since it’s Spotify Wrapped season we wanted to look back at Simon’s ‘Rimcaps’ and see which dishes have been the most popular online.

“It’s Rimcaps Wrapped… Unwrapped,” he stammered as the celebrities burst into laughter. “Is it wrapped or unwrapped?”

Tim revealed the third-favourite was an old school beef curry before Joe felt the need to interject.

“Can I just check, it’s called Rim-Cap?” he asked, prompting more laughter. “And everyone’s OK with that?”

Simon smiled and replied cheekily: “I’m fine with that, Joe.”

Tim continued: “Number two, pancakes with hazelnut sauce”, to which Simon exclaimed, “Really?” and Joe burst out: “What a Rim-Cap!”

Tim then revealed viewers’ number one pic was the spiced sumac orzo with prawns, and a surprised Simon replied: “Get out of here! That was number one?”

Simon then went on to make his next , roast potatoes and stuffing balls with curry sauce, before facing another interruption from Joe.

“Will this be Rimcapped?” he asked, to which Simon confirmed: “Indeed.”

Another guest quipped, “You’re not letting it go!” as the guests burst out laughing again.

Fellow guest Matt Goss remarked: “It does sound pretty uncomfortable…”

Despite the awkward name, Simon’s recipes have clearly proved to be a hit with viewers and they’re all available on the Sunday Brunch website.

Sunday Brunch airs from 9:30am on Channel 4.
