‘s decision to make yet another earlier this month has been criticised by a royal expert.
Drawing the contrast between the Royal Family – in particular the Prince and Princess of Wales – and Meghan and Harry’s recent public appearances, the Daily Mail’s diary editor Richard Eden said he believes that the Duchess of Sussex attending events on her own is “a terrible look”.
He said that when Kate and William have attended events – such as the red carpet at the BAFTAs – they stepped out as a couple. Speaking on the latest episode of the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential programme, he said: “Personally I think it’s a terrible look. You just don’t really get that with the Royal Family. You know, when they attend this sort of event, it’s to meet people in a line-up afterwards, not just to be just another celebrity walking along a red carpet.”
Discussing about the duchess, he added: “It’s part of a new strategy, where there definitely is a strategy by Harry and Meghan, is to do things separately.” This then prompted the host, Jo Elvin, to state that we do see the royals make solo visits, to which he replied, “No, they do have separate engagements… but not, sort of, on a red carpet… on those occasions they’d be together.”
