An antique enthusiast was overcome with emotion during a historic episode of after discovering her damaged vase could fetch up to £50,000 at auction.
The lady brought the imperial Chinese porcelain for evaluation at Christchurch Park in Ipswich, as shown on One, and was left gobsmacked by what the expert told her.
According to Mirror Online, she received the eighteenth-century piece adorned with blue dragons and floral patterns against a pristine white from her late parents, giving it extra sentimental value to her.
Expert appraiser Alexandra Aguilar Doméracki assessed that the piece was valued between £30,000 to £50,000, even though it showed “a few stains and dots” along with a crack at the base. The revelation left the owner astounded and tearfully exclaimed, “I thought you were going to say £30 to £50.”

She admitted: “I’m nearly speechless” as Doméracki sympathetically responded: “I am sorry. I did not want to make you cry”, as the guest struggled to keep her composure.
Doméracki elaborated that under imperial scrutiny, such flaws would have led to its rejection by the original owners. Furthermore, she highlighted that in perfect condition, the vase might have commanded an astronomical price of £2-4 million, which would have made it the biggest Antiques Roadshow valuation ever.
The extraordinary valuation sent shockwaves through social media too, with viewers expressing their astonishment at how much the vase could make.
