Fearne Cotton left fans stunned on Friday (December 13) when she announced “with a heavy heart” that she has split from her husband Jesse Wood.
Before their split, the presenter frequently offered fans a glimpse into their shared life, including the events of their first date.
In 2021, the 43-year-old reminisced about inviting Jesse, the son of Ronnie Wood, to her home for their initial rendezvous in an attempt to avoid media scrutiny.
Contrary to what many might expect, Fearne admitted that their evening was not spent getting to know each other over dinner, but rather involved vodka and cigarettes.
“We definitely didn’t eat,” she confessed on the Table Manners podcast. “For our first date, I was a bit nervous because this was a point in my late 20s where for some reason there was interest in who I was dating, and it was really horrible.”

My husband is now, and he’ll talk about this publicly, has been sober now for eight years, but he wasn’t when we met,” she said. “So he turned up at my house with a plastic bag with a bottle of vodka in, and we drank that and we did not eat a thing.”
After meeting, the couple made their relationship official and announced their engagement in 2013. They tied the knot at the Richmond Registry Office in south west London a year later, with the Rolling Stones legend among the many guests present.
Fearne and Jesse, 48, are the proud parents of Rex, 11, and eight-year-old daughter Honey.
Additionally, Fearne plays the role of step-mum to Jesse’s children from a previous marriage; Arthur, 21, and 18-year-old Lola.
In the very same podcast episode, the TV host disclosed just how “chaotic” life within their family unit had turned during the lockdown.

Speaking on the trials of homeschooling her children, she divulged: “It’s impossible, it’s unrealistic. It’s really unrealistic to be doing [homeschooling] and to be trying to work and I’m a bit of a neat freak, so if everything is really chaotic in the house, I really freak out.”
“So I’m trying to keep everything looking nice, pointless. Trying to guide them in life and actually work, and it’s just so unrealistic, it’s bonkers.”
On Friday, the presenter took to her Story to with her followers.
She wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending out marriage. Our priority has been, and always will be, our children. We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.”
