Netflix subscribers are buzzing about the new ‘Die Hard’-style flick Carry-On, starring Sofia Carson as the riveting Nora Parisi. The American actress and songstress burst onto the TV scene with a guest appearance on Disney Channel’s ‘Austin and Ally’ back in 2014.
Rocketing to fame as Evie in the hit series ‘Descendants’, she continued her ascent in with a lead role in the acclaimed drama ‘Purple Hearts’. On the musical front, Carson’s voice first captivated audiences in 2015 with the ‘Descendants’ soundtrack, followed swiftly by the breakout single ‘Rotten to the Core’.
Born Sofia Lauren Daccarett Char Daccarett of paternal lineage and Char from her mother’s side the star chose the stage name Sofia Carson as a tribute to her maternal grandmother, Lauraine Carson.
In May 2023, Carson captured hearts with a Cannes red carpet look, accessorised by Sophia Loren’s historic necklace. She penned an emotional message: “Sophia Loren wore this necklace, and today I had the honor of wearing it to walk the Cannes red carpet. My name is Sofia Lauren- my mom named me after Sophia Loren and my grandmother. Extraordinary forces of women. This is a moment I’ll cherish.”
Hailing from sunny Florida, Carson’s parents emigrated from Colombia before she set foot on stage. A passionate dancer, she honed her craft at In Motion Dance Studio, showcasing her talent in competitions nationwide.

With regards to her personal life, the 31-year-old actress keeps any romantic involvements decidedly under wraps, away from the prying eyes of the media.
In a candid chat with Extra in January 2022, the star made it clear that her choice to shield her private life from the public eye was “absolutely intentional”.
She elaborated: “To me, it’s about my art and the music and the films that I put out into the world and not about my personal life.
“I still do love sharing personal moments that are special to me with fans, but it was definitely a choice to keep my private life private because it’s not what this is about for me. It’s about more than that.”

Speculation has been rife that she might have been romantically linked to Sofia Vergara’s son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara. The buzz intensified after the Carry-On sensation posted (and later removed) an snap of them hand-in-hand, teasingly captioned “about last night.”
In February 2018, Manolo stoked the flames by uploading an video where he’s seen playfully lifting Carson, adding weight to the whispers of a romance.
Despite the mounting conjecture, the duo has remained tight-lipped about their relationship status. Back in 2017, during an interview with Coveteur, she opened up about her apprehensions regarding love, confessing: “My whole life I’ve been afraid of falling in love, just because that means being vulnerable and that you could get hurt.”
