Charlotte, who is known for her love of ballet, has reportedly been attending weekly private lessons at a dance school in South London.

Speaking to singer Paloma Faith, who performed at the carol service, Kate said she had asked Louis: “Can you keep a secret otherwise it won’t be a surprise for Charlotte, who loves her ballet dancing.”

She said that Louis agreed. She explained: “He has kept the secret for, what, nearly two weeks now.”

Kate added: “For a six-year-old. And then this morning he said, ‘Mummy, please can I tell her – I’m bursting’. I did drop off, and he really wanted to tell her. I think – hopefully – he’s kept it.”

Princess Charlotte’s face lit up when the ballet dancers performed right in front of her, suggesting her younger brother had been good to his word. The recent event represented a significant milestone for Princess Kate, who has faced a difficult year while recovering from a type of cancer diagnosed in March.

“Char” isn’t Princess Charlotte’s only nickname. In a rare family video clip, another one was revealed when the couple were joined by their children at the Royal Chelsea Flower Show in 2019.

While playing on a swing in the garden, William calls out to his daughter asking her to help give him a push and calls for “Mignonette” instead of Charlotte. It’s a French word which means “delicate” and “cute”.
