Former star has revealed her dream of joining Strictly Come Dancing may never come true after an awkward encounter with the show’s casting team.
Writing in her column for the Express, the TV personality shared her desire to compete on the hit dance show alongside Spanish pro dancer Gorka Márquez.
“Strictly would be my dream come true because I would absolutely love to be twirled around by Spanish Gorka,” McKeith wrote.
“We would make the perfect dance partnership, plus I can brush up on my Spanish. Two for the price of one: dancing and Spanish lessons all rolled into one!”
However, the road to the Strictly ballroom seems firmly closed for McKeith after she attempted to reach out directly to the show’s casting director. Their response was less than enthusiastic.

McKeith explained how the casting director made it abundantly clear that her approach was not appreciated.
“She was not happy about that at all. She reported me like a naughty schoolgirl to my agent, telling her something along the lines of: ‘Under no circumstances should the talent be calling me! Get her in line. Who does she think she is?'”
The reprimand left McKeith fuming. “My question is, who does SHE think she is, coming out with nonsense like that? Ridiculous.” she added.

Despite the setback, McKeith remains hopeful, after receiving some encouragement from none other than Rod Stewart.
The singer offered his support during a chance encounter at a charity event.
“He was all enthusiastic for me doing the show,” she recalled. “I told him my casting director story, and he said to me, ‘Well, she can’t be there forever, surely. Your time will come.’ Let’s hope Rod is right.”
If Strictly remains out of reach, McKeith has another idea: combining her jungle roots with her love of dance.
“Maybe ITV could create an I’m A Celebrity Jungle with a Twist-type dance show, and I could sign up for that one,” she suggested.
For now, it seems McKeith’s dreams of cha-cha-chaing with Gorka are on hold, but if her track record in showbiz proves anything, it’s that she knows how to make an impression—even if it’s with the wrong people.
