Amazon Prime update means fans have no excuse not to stream ‘masterpiece’

Amazon has given TV enthusiasts a reason to dive into a series hailed as a ‘gripping masterpiece’, thanks to its latest update.

The retail behemoth has rolled out an enhancement to its streaming app, offering viewers an expanded selection of shows and films.

As of this month, Apple TV+ is now accessible as an add-on subscription via the Prime Video app.

This means that the entire catalogue can be accessed without the need for additional software, merging libraries for easier browsing and filtering of content without switching between apps or logins.

This significant addition joins a plethora of extra services available to Amazon Prime subscribers, meaning there is no excuse over missing out on some of the best recent series.

This includes Paramount+, home to popular shows like Yellowstone, South Park and recent Star Trek series, Shudder for horror aficionados, Discovery+ for documentary lovers and TNT Sports.

The Apple TV+ add-on subscription is priced at £8.99 a month, identical to subscribing directly through Apple. The perk here is the ease of managing the subscription, including cancellation at any time, via your Amazon account page, reports .

Smart TV and Fire Stick users can easily sign up and avail a seven-day free trial. Android device users, including mobile and tablet owners, may need to sign up via the Amazon website due to Google’s restrictions on additional purchases through its Play Store apps. However, with a recent update, the Prime Video app now allows users to easily filter their accessible content.

Users can utilise the top menu where each subscription’s logo will appear on the far right, depending on the service they’re currently subscribed to. Selecting each will filter the library to display only that content, eliminating any that incurs an extra charge.

This makes it even easier to watch one of the most underrated gems of recent years, Severance. Initially released exclusively on Apple TV+ in 2022, the series was praised by critics and audiences alike but didn’t achieve the success it deserved due to being confined to an additional streaming service and app.

The plot revolves around a group of office workers whose memories have been surgically split between their work and personal lives, leading them on a quest to uncover the truth about their jobs and their lives outside work.

With a star-studded cast featuring Adam Scott, Christopher Walken, John Turturro and Patricia Arquette, and Ben Stiller as the series director, it’s one of the few Apple shows with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 97%.

One enthusiast raved: “It’s a perfect show with a mind blowing ending.”

Echoing the sentiments, another viewer remarked: “Severance is a gripping masterpiece that completely redefines the thriller genre with its unique premise and deeply engaging narrative.”

Praising the minds behind it, a comment read: “The show, brilliantly crafted by Ben Stiller and Dan Erickson, intricately weaves suspense, drama, and psychological depth into a story that not only entertains but also provokes profound thought about work-life balance and identity.”

There’s no better time to dive in as the second season finally drops on January 17 next year. Additionally, Amazon gives viewers the chance to catch up on other lauded series like Ted Lasso, Silo and Slow Horses.
