fans are counting down the days until the final episode of airs on Christmas Day. Viewers have had five years to ponder the famous Nessa proposal to Smithy, but behind the scenes there appears to be additional drama.
Writers Ruth Jones and have remained tight-lipped on plot lines for the episode. However, sources have revealed what Corden is really like when the cameras aren’t rolling and why he brought back the show one last time.
According to , they reported: “‘James is in charge,’ said a source on location in the Welsh seaside town of Barry, where Gavin & Stacey is filmed. ‘He and Ruth wrote the script and he has a personality that is somewhat dominating.’
“Another added: ‘James has held the key to the comeback, and in a way it has given him some power over the .’ Whether that will open doors for him in the longer term is unclear. But Corden is said to have ‘really enjoyed’ his time back at work when the episode began recording in September and appeared to be on the charm offensive.”
The publication said that James was friendly with members of the press and supporters of the show. Yet, they claim that there is ‘ongoing tension’ between Corden and his co-star Mathew Horne (Gavin Shipman).

They added: “Sources say their relationship hasn’t improved, disclosing that while they both stayed in suites at the five-star Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff during filming the Christmas special, they didn’t socialise.
A source also told the MailOnline that the pair were originally ‘inseperable’, but after their own Horne & Corden TV show failed to impress critics, Corden and Horne parted ways and their ‘lives went in completely separate directions.’
Filming reportedly lasted five weeks and wrapped up on October 7. Mathew will be reprising his role as Gavin, whilst Joanna Page will be returning as Stacey Shipman.

It is unknown whether Sheridan Smith will come back to be Smithy’s sister, Ruth, but it would be an extra bonus if she did.
