Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim wants a new left-back.
Harry Amass has been frozen out of the first-team picture at as eyes a new left-back as one of his first signings at the club, according to reports. The talented teenager has been knocking on the door of a senior debut for months but is yet to make his breakthrough, despite United’s continued woes in the position.
Amass is considered one of the country’s most exciting young prospects and has looked destined to add to the Red Devils’ 251 academy graduates.
But he is still awaiting an opportunity, and that wait could extend further if Amorim gets what he wants in the transfer market.
According to , Amass is under serious threat of slipping down the pecking order, with Amorim opting to sign fresh blood at left-back rather than throw him into senior football.
The 17-year-old faces being frozen out if a new arrival joins Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia as United’s options on the left flank.
Amass will hope to burst onto the first-team scene this term after impressing when called upon by in pre-season.
However, even this summer, while the Dutchman hailed his development, he admitted he wasn’t yet ready to enter the senior fray.
“I said already the other day: there is a potential, but he [Amass] has to improve,” Ten Hag explained in the United States.

“But I think in the last 12 days here on the tour, he has made big steps. He was really tested in defending, and he made a step forward, but there is still a long way to go.”
The report adds that United staff agree that Amass requires more time before he can challenge for a regular starting berth in Amorim’s plans.
Under contract until 2027 after signing a four-year contract when he joined from Watford last year, Amass has featured in five matchday squads this season.
He was an unused substitute on every occasion, but his continued presence fed the narrative that a debut was on the horizon.

Yet, his first signing as United boss could be 17-year-old left-back Diego Leon. The Paraguayan’s agent is reportedly in England to seal a £3.2million switch from Cerro Porteno.
United continue to be linked with an immediate replacement for injury-stricken Shaw, who hasn’t been able to start a single game since February.
