Ever pondered the true value of those unique jingling in your pocket?

They could be worth a few extra pennies or even double their face value, so it’s always great to look. A coin collector on recently highlighted three special designs to watch out for – and they might fetch a higher price than you’d expect.

The user @CoinCollectingWizard, who boasts 213,000 followers, shared what seven months’ worth of savings looks like when opened from a jar. He queried: “How much do you think has been saved? We’ve got pound coins, 50p coins, 20p coins.

“Now time to sort them out to find designs worth big money.”

The first coin he discussed was a 20p piece from 2008 that lacks a date due to a dye mix-up at the Royal Mint.

7 months of savings searching for the rare coins!

“There was a dye mix-up at the Royal Mint during the transition to the new design and a small number of these coins were accidentally minted with no date,” he clarified. “£50 if you come across one of these.”

Next, he mentioned the popular William Shakespeare coin.

He stated: “The writing on this coin from 2014 should read ‘What a piece of work is a man’. Tragedies error coins have the wrong inscription for King and country from the 2016 Army First World War Centenary £2 coin.

“This is probably an easier one to find and still can sell for around £30.”

Finally, he gave a shout-out to the Kew Gardens 50p coin, one of the most sought-after coins available. He disclosed: “The Kew Gardens 50p is arguably the most sought-after 50p.

“Nothing gets people excited quite like this original 2009 design. Just 210,000 were released into circulation and with almost all of them in private hands. The chances of coming across one in your change are slim.”

It’s always worth giving your coin collection a once-over – you never know what treasures might be lurking. Since the video was posted, it garnered over 100 likes and comments.

One viewer quipped: “Just need to get the Shakespeare.” Others tried to guess the total value of his collection.
