Anne Hegerty might launch her acting career with a sitcom
Anne Hegerty, known as The Governess on ITV’s ‘The Chase’, has hinted at a potential sitcom role. She revealed that a colleague from the show has written a part specifically for her in a sitcom and she is hopeful it will take off.
Speaking on the ‘A Very Tall Man’ podcast, Anne expressed her desire to be part of a TV show or film. “I’d love to be on a TV show or a film. I know various people who are trying to get things off the ground,” she said.
“One of them is the guy on The Chase, he’s written a sitcom with a part for me.” She added: “It would be brilliant to get that made.”
The 66-year-old also joked about wanting to play a “fat old supervillain” in a Marvel movie. Despite her interest in sitcoms, Anne has ruled out participating in any more reality TV shows.
Having been a contestant on ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ in 2018, she feels nothing can top that experience.

As quoted by the Daily Star newspaper’s HotTV column, she said: “The jungle is about as big as you can get. Everything else is a bit of a step down. I don’t want to do another reality show unless it involves something I want to get better at. I think I’m done.”
Anne shares her role on ‘The Chase’ with Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha, Darragh Ennis, Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace.
When discussing her wide array of commitments outside the beloved quiz series, she mentioned her regular role in pantomime and presenting duties on ‘Britain’s Brightest Family’ for ITV. She conveyed that the remarkable success of ‘The Chase’ since its inception in 2009 could largely be attributed to the charm and wit of Bradley Walsh.

In a conversation with Best magazine, she explained: “Great formats and a brilliant host! ” She added, “You can tune into ‘The Chase’ at any point during the hour, catch up with it very quickly and be absorbed by it. ” Her praise for Walsh continued, “But our secret weapon is Bradley Walsh – everybody loves Bradley.”
She underscored her affinity towards the host’s natural finesse with, “He was made to do these programmes – they just suit him down to the ground. ” She relishes the on-screen dynamic, expressing, “I love being able to throw out a bizarre fact and he will run with it and make a joke out of it.”
Her admiration was evident as she concluded, “I love the way he latches on to the things I say.”
