viewers believe they have cracked the code on PC Mike Swirling’s new romantic interest.
The character, portrayed by Andy Moore, has been a fixture on the ITV soap since 2004, making him one of the longest-standing recurring characters.
Over the years, he has frequently been seen handling the various misdeeds in the village. As such, PC Swirling is a familiar face to many residents, especially the Dingle family.
Just this week, he found himself arresting (Jeff Hordley). Fans will remember that Cain has been having a tough time and spiralling out of control since his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumour earlier this year.
In a moment of weakness, Cain cheated on Moira with Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) while Moira was undergoing surgery. Overwhelmed with guilt, Cain decided to skip Moira’s hospital appointment for her post-surgery results on Tuesday (December 10).

Swirling has been on the soap for years
He quickly regretted his decision. In his rush to get back to the hospital to support Moira, he collided with Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) car, reports .
Later, PC Swirling stopped Cain, leading to an altercation that resulted in Cain being taken away in handcuffs. At the police station, a desperate Cain pleaded with Swirling to let him speak to Moira. Showing some compassion, Swirling eventually allowed Cain to use his mobile phone to call her.
Now, PC Swirling, constantly gracing the Dales with his presence, has got fans talking about a possible love interest for him in the formidable (Claire King).

Fans are predicting a Kim Tate romance
On one Facebook group, a fan postulated: “When is Swirling becoming a main character then? ” and another enthusiast suggested: “He should get with Kim! ” Responses piled up, with someone adding: “She would eat him up, but I can see that.”
and another remarking: “He should be full-time as well, but definitely needs some romance.”
When not policing , actor Andy Moore, who plays PC Swirling, has a rich acting history that goes beyond the soap. Launching his career with a minor role in 2005 as a driver on , he reappeared on the show five years later portraying a photographer.
However, Andy’s versatility isn’t contained to just soaps; his repertoire includes credits from The Bill, The Royal, and Fred and Marv.
