Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs’ 15-year-old son steps out with his dad

Fifteen-year-old Walker Diggs, the son of Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs, made another rare red carpet appearance.

At the Critics Choice’s Celebration Of Black Cinema And Television in Los Angeles on Dec. 9, Walker stepped out with his dad, actor Diggs.

The two were all smiles as Walker sported a black suit and white button-up. Meanwhile, Diggs wore a light gray patterned suit with a maroon shirt and a beige hat.

This family appearance comes just weeks after Walker supported his mom on the red carpet at the “Wicked” premiere Nov. 9. The film, released Nov. 22, is a movie adaptation of the original Broadway show, which featured Menzel as the original Elphaba.

Menzel and Diggs originally met while starring in the original Broadway production of “Rent,” and were married in 2003. The former couple welcomed Walker in 2009 and split in 2013.

Menzel has been married actor-turned-therapist Aaron Lohr since 2017.

Though separated, Menzel and Diggs have been open about how they prioritize co-parenting in Walker’s life.

“Your child comes first, that’s all,” Menzel told People in 2020. “He comes first and you have to get past your own egos and you never talk bad about each other.”

Diggs has also spoken to the the outlet on their co-parenting style, explaining that Walker is their “main objective” in life.

“He’s what’s most important for us, so we’re still there as a family,” Diggs said, adding, “We were friends to start out with, but especially when you have a kid in the mix, there’s no time for any negativity.”

In November, Diggs told People how “excited” he gets to spend time with his teenage son these days.

“I try not to show him how excited I am just when he says three words to me, but it can be difficult,” Diggs said.

He continued, joking, “It’s very humbling because I feel like a 12-year-old girl that’s out with a senior boy. Anything I say could ruin the date. I’m so tentative.”
