are open to selling next month – to generate funds to rebuild ‘s squad.

United star Rashford has endured another frustrating start to a season, with his commitment and focus under fresh scrutiny following a series of below-par performances.

Newly-appointed United boss appeared to question Rashford’s motivation when he said the forward had to “want it” for himself to get back to his very best form.

Against that backdrop, United are understood to be willing to offload Rashford in the January transfer window, but accept they may have to wait until the summer to move him on.

Rashford, 27, signed a new £300,000-a-week contract until 2028 after bagging a career-best haul of 30 goals in the 2022-23 season, with the new deal penned on the back of that campaign.

But since signing that lucrative deal, Rashford’s form has tailed off, with the striker managing just eight goals last season and seven so far this term, amid concerns over his lifestyle off the pitch.

United know they may face difficulty in offloading Rashford, given there is not a competitive market for his signature, following his loss of form, added to his exorbitant wages.

Given his poor form of late, Rashford’s market value has plummeted from a career-high of around £90million two years ago to £45m, with Paris St Germain the only realistic destination for him.

Rashford was fined two weeks’ wages in January after calling in sick for training ahead of an FA Cup tie, only for it to emerge he had been on a boozy night out in Belfast.

He was subsequently dropped for the tie away to Newport County, while he was also left out of the starting line-up last Boxing Day, for a disciplinary issue, but came on to score in a 1-0 win.

More recently, Rashford was criticised for flying to New York during an international break, to attend a basketball game, ahead of his first training sessions under new boss Amorim.

Although Amorim did not publicly criticise Rashford – or Casemiro, who also jetted off to the States – the United boss admitted he would have set different limits on where players could travel.
