Ferrari will supply Cadillac with engines and gearboxes in 2026 and beyond
have finalised a multi-year agreement to supply Cadillac with F1 engines and gearboxes when they join the grid in 2026.
General Motors-backed Cadillac are set to become F1’s 11th team when a new round of design regulations are introduced the season after next.
A GM bid in partnership with Andretti was snubbed by F1 bosses earlier this year, but with Michael Andretti since taking a step back and Cadillac pledging to produce their own power units by the end of the decade, the proposal has strengthened.
And have now announced that they will supply the team with power units and gearboxes over an undefined, multi-year period.
The Scuderia’s announcement read: ” today announces a multi-year agreement starting from 2026 with Andretti Formula Racing LLC, regarding the supply of power unit and gearbox to the racing team led by TWG Global and General Motors, subject to Andretti Formula Racing LLC receiving written confirmation from the FIA – F1 that its entry to the 2026 FIA Formula One Championship has been accepted and approved.”
Cadillac’s preparations for their prospective F1 entry have also extended to choosing a team principal, with former Marussia boss Graeme Lowdown getting the nod.
Meanwhile Michael Andretti’s name has been dropped from the GM-Cadillac proposal, but his father – former F1 world champion Mario Andretti – will take up an ambassadorial role.
