Tommy Fury beat Jake Paul last year
has found himself on the receiving end of a sharp rebuke from , with the British fighter urging the American YouTube star to get on the phone for serious talks about a potential rematch.
Despite having beaten Paul last year by split decision in Saudi Arabia, delivering him his first professional defeat, Fury is keen on a rematch if the terms are right. He clapped back at claims he’s avoiding a fight, taking to social media to set the record straight.
“Right, so I’ve just woke up and seen Logan Paul talk on his podcast yet again about how I don’t want to fight Jake and that I’m running scared. I’ve seen Jake tweet the other day about how he offered me x,y,z on . I just wanted to come on here and say that no one here is running from this fight,” Fury declared.
“I’ve beat you once already, I handed you your first loss. The minute you stepped in there with a real boxer… you lost fair and square. I can give you a second loss, that’s not a problem. But let’s talk some serious numbers down the phone. If you want to get touch, you know where I am. It’s as easy as that. I can come back after a year and beat the pair of you. At the end of the day, if you want to fight, let’s talk some serious numbers… you know where I am.”
Over the years, both Paul and Fury have traded barbs online on multiple occasions. While it seemed that the pair settled their dispute in the ring, it appears as if both men are open to yet another fight. ‘The Problem Child’ was quick to respond to Fury’s demands. Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – the 27 year old posted: “What absolute muppet. Buddy you just pulled out of a fight for the 3rd time. You have ZERO credibility. I offered you $8M dollars and you ran away from it. And now you got dumped by Molly, getting sued by DAZN and still can’t call a shot without your dad. GTFOH.”
Fury was due to take on ex-UFC title contender Darren Till next month but pulled out of the fight after his rival threatened to kick him in the head. “I can’t believe I’m writing this but I am now not fighting Darren Till on January 18. For the one simple reason being that Darren has stated over and over that he does not want to abide by professional boxing rules and that if he is losing the fight he will resort to kicking and other stupid MMA tactics,” said Fury.
“I am a professional boxer, I have been out of the ring for over a year and I wanted this to be a great BOXING fight for the fans. I have wasted weeks in training camp. We are working hard to get a new opponent and date. I promise to get a better opponent and better fight for you guys. Good news around the corner.”
