I wasn’t sure what to expect when I pressed play on and ’s latest project, Polo.

As someone with little knowledge of the sport beyond a vague image of wealthy riders on horseback swinging mallets, I expected to be bored senseless by the docu-series.

I assumed this would be a niche show aimed at die-hard polo fans – which of course, .

However, just five minutes in, I was surprised to find myself completely sucked in to the world of the competitors.

The camera places the viewer right in the middle of the action, giving audiences an intimate glimpse into what goes on before players get on the pitch for the US open.

The series was released today as part of the Sussexes’ £80 million deal, and unlike their previous project, it takes a backseat from the couple’s .

Harry appears only briefly in the five-episode series, with Meghan making even fewer appearances.

Instead, the spotlight is firmly on polo’s biggest names: Adolfo and Poroto Cambiaso, Louis Devaleix, Timmy Dutta, Nacho Figueras, and Keko Magrini.

The series dives into their lives, their passion for the game, and their intense preparations for the US Open.

The series strikes the perfect balance between showcasing the sport’s technical complexities and the personal stories of its players.

Harry previously hinted at this when talking to People Magazine about the show, saying: “This series offers audiences an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look into the passion and determination driving some of the world’s elite polo players, revealing the grit behind the glamour.

“We’re proud to showcase the true depth and spirit of the sport — and the intensity of its high-stakes moments.”

According to showrunner Miloš Balać, Harry had a huge impact on the way Polo was shot, as he made contributions related to his own personal knowledge of the sport that turned out to be invaluable.

Miloš told : “He was involved, I’d say, in a pretty incredible way, in that he, from the start, definitely had a vision. He was very involved from the start in terms of suggesting where we might want to look for storylines.

“And then in the edit he was incredibly helpful. I really never actually worked with an executive producer in that sense where he had such an expertise for the sport that he could really offer excellent notes about how we were editing the game play, how to portray certain moments.

“Even while we were in production, he was giving so many ideas of like, ‘Hey, you know what I love so much about polo is that feeling when you’re on the horse and you just feel the speed and you feel the excitement and you feel the roar.’

“So we kept all of that in mind in terms of trying to think of, ‘How can we then capture that and communicate that appropriately?'”
