swiftly offered her apologies to Deputy Prime Minister on her programme, after a bout of coughing interrupted their Tuesday morning interview. The beloved Scottish host was battling a raspy throat but managed to push through the conversation.
As they concluded their discussion, Lorraine expressed her regret as she commented: “Angela thank you so much, great to see you, have a lovely Christmas. Sorry I’m coughing all over the place, it’s awful!” Yet, Rayner seemed unfazed and graciously thanked the television favourite for the opportunity to appear on the show.
In a lighter moment, the duo also touched upon the joys of grandparenthood. Lorraine quipped: “You have many names, which we mentioned Angela Raver, Grangela! Grangela because you are a grandmother. Did that change you?”
Rayner confirmed her status as a grandparent and pointed out that Lorraine shared the same joy. The presenter gushed: “I know, it’s the best. Honestly, Angela, it’s the best thing in the world.”

A tender snapshot of Rayner with her grandchild graced the screen, prompting Lorraine to remark on its beauty and reflect on how becoming a grandparent alters one’s perspective, reports .
She pondered: “This wee tiny person, all of a sudden you really worry about the future or you think about it more perhaps?”
Rayner concurred, noting the heightened concern she feels for a grandchild, she added: “You do when they’re your grandchild, with your children if they fall over you’re like, ‘Oh get up it’s fine’. Although her response is different with her grandchild.
The MP added: “When you look after them it’s like, ‘Oh my god, it’s so precious’. You’re so much more protective of them and then of course you give them more treats than you’d have ever given your own children because you wouldn’t have allowed them to eat all those sweets knowing full well it was going to be difficult to get them to sleep.

“So I think as a granny you can be a little bit more naughty than what you are as a parent.” Lorraine replied: “Could not agree more!”
The Deputy Prime Minister embraced grandmotherhood at just 37 when her eldest son Ryan became a father in 2017. At the birth, Lilith Mae tipped the scales at 2.6kg at Tameside Hospital, The Guardian reported.
Lorraine too joined the grandparent club, announcing that her daughter Rosie had given birth to her first child, Billie earlier this year.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain at the time, the ITV presenter couldn’t contain her excitement as she beamed with pride. She shared: “Baby Billie is here, she’s beautiful, she’s absolutely beautiful. It’s just, it’s brilliant!

You are part of the Granny club, well done Lorraine. I’m so proud of you and I’m longing to see you soon and give you a big hug. Of course, sending you one little children’s book for your lovely lovely new grandchild. Well done indeed.
“I’m so thrilled for you. I wonder if you’ll be called GG or Granny? Or Hmm, lovely Lorraine? No, I think Granny. Welcome to the Granny club, lots of love see you soon!”
