Death in Paradise spin-off set to feature BBC Strictly Come Dancing star

Fans of Beyond Paradise will recognise a familiar face in the upcoming Christmas Special as star Seann Walsh is set to join the star-studded cast.

The popular TV personality returns to Shipton Abbott where two festive cases keep Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman occupied.

Seann, who was part of the Strictly line-up in 2018 and professionally partnered with Katya Jones, will portray the character of maverick inventor Colin on the beloved detective spin-off.

The show will continue from where season two of Beyond Paradise ended, which saw Humphrey (Kris Marshall) and Martha (Sally Bretton) narrowly miss getting married, but it seems things could start moving again.

The synopsis for the festive episode reads: “When recently widowed Bob Holland (Mark Heap) is ordered to leave his home by a vision of his late wife Linda (Rosalind Adler), he is thrown into emotional turmoil, a vivid reminder of his harrowing grief.”, reports .

“Deeply disturbed by this series of troubling events, he turns to his friend Anne (Barbara Flynn) for comfort, who shares his encounters with the Shipton Abbott police team.

“Unsure whether Bob’s ghostly visions are a manifestation of grief or something more sinister, Humphrey and Esther (Zahra Ahmadi) get to work unravelling the mystery.

Elaborating on Seann’s role, it states: “Bob’s daughter Fiona (Tamla Kari) and her husband, a maverick inventor Colin (Seann Walsh), appear stumped and concerned when deliberating who could be behind this ghostly apparition.

“Is Bob simply struggling with the pain of the first Christmas without his wife, or is there a darker force at play?”.

Speaking about the forthcoming series, executive producer Tim Key shared: “We are delighted to be back in the beautiful South West, filming what promises to be our strongest series yet, packed full of mysteries, surprises, challenges and lots of heart.

“We love making the show and the audience response to it is fantastic, and it’s especially exciting to welcome back Jamie Bamber [who plays Martha’s ex Archie] to Shipton Abbott we can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been up to.”

The star of DI Humphrey, Kris Marshall, dropped by the celebrated ITV talk show This Morning for a chat, where he dished some tantalising nuggets about the upcoming season.

He shared: “It’s a ghost story really, a Christmas festive haunting, which is the kind of case that butters Humphrey Goodman’s parsnips, if you know what I mean? His Christmas parsnips!

“And indeed, he’s up against the clock to crack this case by Christmas. It’s jolly, it’s got a touch of Dickens, incredibly Christmassy and quite outlandish too!”.
