Princess Kate is one of the people shortlisted for the 2024 Time Person of the Year title
Princess Kate is one of the 10 people to have been shortlisted for the 2024 Time magazine’s Person of the Year prestigious title.
Every year, Time magazine shortlists a number of people, groups and concepts that have had the biggest impact on the world over the previous year – be that positive or negative.
The full shortlist for 2024 is: , Kate Middleton, , Yulia Navalnaya, Benjamin Netanyahu, Jerome Powell, Joe Rogan, Claudia Sheinbaum, and Mark Zuckerberg.
Last year, the award went to Taylor Swift, and Barack Obama has held the title twice. Ukrainian President and the “spirit of ” won in 2022, current nominee in 2021, and the Ebola fighters in 2014.
On Thursday 12 December, Time will announce the 2024 Person of the Year.

The Princess of Wales has faced a tumultuous year, having been treated for cancer. Time magazine noted that the headlines surrounding her health journey “stirred a conversation about privacy and health for public figures,” referencing the many conspiracy theories that swept social media.
Time Magazine wrote: “In January, Kate Middleton was hospitalized for two weeks for a “planned abdominal surgery” and Kensington Palace said she would be out of the public eye until Easter. But after conspiracy theories circulated online in March about Middleton’s whereabouts, the royal put the rumors to rest by revealing that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
“In September, Middleton announced that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment. Middleton was previously on the TIME100 list of Most Influential People in 2013, and one of the runners-up for Person of the Year in 2011.”
