The iconic sitcom follows the long-distance relationship between a girl from South Wales and boy from Essex, with their family and friends all heavily involved in their new-found love.
And although main character Gavin Shipman, played by Matthew Horne, may be born-and-bred in Essex boy, that’s not where his family home is located.
The famous home, which features iconic scenes from three-steaks Pam to Nessa and Dave’s engagement, isn’t even in the same country.
Mick (Larry Lamb) and Pam’s (Alison Steadman) house is actually located in Dinas Powys, Wales. Meanwhile The Colcot Arms, where Smithy’ hosts his pub quizzes, is set in Billericay. However, the pub is far from Essex as it is actually located on Colcot Road in Barry Island, Wales.

However, other locations from the Bafta-winning sitcom are filmed in the same place they are set.
Trinity Street in Barry Island holds three regularly-seen locations including Gwen and Stacey’s house, Bryn’s home and even Doris’ place, as the characters all live down the same road.
During filming of the Christmas Special in 2019, James Corden and Ruth Jones brought all the local residents ice cream as a thank you for letting them use the famous street for several scenes.
Five years after the series ended with Nessa proposing to Smithy on a huge cliffhanger, the beloved sitcom is returning for one final time on Christmas Day.

The cast of the programme have been snapped filming various scenes, but those involved have reportedly been under strict instruction to keep filming details a secret. However, Steffan Rhodri, who will reprise his role as Dave Coaches, has now from the finale.
Speaking to , the actor teased: “My character Dave is a bit of an outsider. But they planned it so that with the last scene we did, which is the ending, we were all together and it was very touching.”
He added: “I can’t tell you anything about the Christmas special other than I’m in it. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I didn’t do the one five years ago so it’s 17 years since I’ve done it. It was like putting on a pair of old trousers. It was really lovely to hang out with them again.”
