However, confusion ensued amongst the audience as Becky Hill took to the stage prior to any conclusion being drawn about the contestants’ status in the contest, leading to a flurry of bemused tweets.
One viewer questioned: “Why is there a music performance first #Strictly”, another bewildered fan asked: “why tf is the music performance first #Strictly” and one more tweeted in exasperation: “why have we got a music performance before any of the announcements what #strictly”.

Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to complain minutes into Sunday night’s semi-finals results show
During the nerve-wracking segment, Pete and Jowita were pitched against Tasha and Aljaz in the show’s dreaded dance-off.
Both couples were given the chance to perform one of their routines again, with Tasha and Aljaz choosing their Waltz to (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin, while Pete and Jowita opted for their Argentine Tango to Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve.
After both pairs had danced a second time, the judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke – unanimously chose to save Tasha and Aljaz.
This decision meant that Pete and Jowita were sadly eliminated from the competition, missing out on a place in next week’s final. Head judge Shirley Ballas agreed with her fellow judges, stating she too would have saved Tasha and Aljaz.
Show watchers were left confused as the results show went immediately into Becky’s performance before any announcements
Reflecting on his Strictly journey, an emotional Pete said: “It’s been beautiful!” He added: “It’s been wild. I’ve been quite honest about the fact that I didn’t necessarily want to do this [Strictly] in the first place, but everyone else wanted me to do it, and I am so, so glad that I did it!
“You don’t always have to be the best, but if you enjoy something then why shouldn’t you have a go at it? I’ve tried my best from day one, I said I was in for a penny, in for a pound and I’ve done it, it’s been beautiful.”
The 2024 finalists are now confirmed as Tasha and Aljaz, Chris and Dianne, Sarah and Vito, and JB and Lauren.
The Grand Final returns live on One and iPlayer on Saturday 14 December at 6pm.
