was left gobsmacked by ‘s lack of vision in the car the legend is using for his film based on the sport. The 60-year-old is starring in ‘F1’, which comes out in cinemas in June 2025.
Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, a former driver who returns to the grid alongside rookie team-mate Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris, for the fictional team APXGP in the new flick.
The Troy actor has been a regular presence on the F1 paddock for the past year and was interviewed by Sky Sports’ Ted Kravitz on Sunday ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race of the 2024 season. Discussing the modified Formula 2 car he’s using in the film, he showed the reporter what he’s had to contend with while driving.
“The halo you already have to see past, we have to see past this block here, a 4K camera, and this one is really tricky because it blocks your turning points,” Pitt explained. He admitted that the lack of vision even surprised seven-time world champion Hamilton, as he added: “So approaching you get an inch right there, it’s sketchy, even Lewis looked there and said ‘oh my'”.
Hamilton – who finished fourth in his 246th and final race for this weekend – is a producer on the film and has been seen hobknobbing with Pitt on the paddock in recent months. The Brit even paid Pitt a compliment on his driving according to prolific film producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Speaking to F1 TV’s post-race coverage at the British Grand Prix earlier this year, Bruckheimer said: “Three years ago, we came to visit Stefano [Domenicali] and Mohammed [Ben Sulayem] and this whole wonderful organisation of F1, and fortunately they blessed us and said, ‘Come on in, join us and see what you can do’.
” – who is one of our producers on the movie – is keeping us honest so we get the racing right, and it’s been a phenomenal weekend for us. We have 14 cameras we can put on the car, the cameras are smaller than the cameras we used in Top Gun.

“They also are mobile, they can move and turn, which we’ve never had before, so technology’s advanced so much, and they’re IMAX quality, which is even better. That’s Brad driving – three months of training, working with the best stunt drivers. Lewis even said, ‘Look, you’re doing really well’, and that’s quite a compliment.”
Pitt had a first-hand view of Hamilton’s last race with the Silver Arrows. The 39-year-old started the race in 18th after exiting Q1 on Saturday in which he took responsibility as he told his team over the radio: “Yeah, I messed that up big time guys. F***!” He managed to fight back and finish fourth in his swansong.
