If you’re watching your waistline, you might think indulging in brownies is off the table. However, a game-changing has just landed. Popular user @ketorecipes has unveiled a method for whipping up healthy brownies that’s causing quite the stir.

For those with a penchant for sweets, these brownies are not only delicious, but also supportive of your goals, so it’s pretty good news all around. With National Brownie Day on December 8, there’s no better time to don your apron.

The best part is they’re super simple to make, and you can whip them up in a few simple steps. You’ll need a rather unlikely ingredient – cottage cheese.

He added: “They’re only 135 calories a square. All you have to do is roast a butternut squash in the oven, process it with almond flour, cottage cheese, egg, cacao powder, monk fruit sweetener and baking powder in a small food processor.

“Bake it in the oven for 45 minutes. You can eat them as it is or topped with sugar free melted chocolate chips. Enjoy.”

HEALTHIER BROWNIES . We’re using not one but two cooking hacks to make the best healthier brownies you’ve ever had. . These are not only flourless, but contain no added sugar, they’re blood sugar friendly, and get a boost of protein thanks to cottage cheese! . Here is how I made it: . 1.Roast 1 small butternut squash (it should be 1lb) in the oven. Just peel, remove the seeds, cut into cubes or chunks, spray with avocado oil, pop into the oven at 400F for 50 minutes. . 2.Remove the butternut squash, let it cool slightly, then add to a food processor. . 3.To the food processor add 1 cup almond flour, 1 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 cup dark cacao powder, 2 large eggs, 6 tablespoons powdered monk fruit, a splash of vanilla extract, and 1 tbsp baking powder. Process really well, so there are no clumps or chunks of butternut squash and everything is mixed well. . 4.Grab a baking dish, line with parchment paper, and top with the mixture. . 5.Optional: you can add sugar free chocolate chips of your choice. . 6.Bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes at 400F, then remove and LET COOL COMPLETELY. It is critical this cools completely. . 7.You can eat this as is, or optional, add drizzles of sugar free melted chocolate chips on top. . 8.Cut into whatever size shapes you want and serve. .   • 120g of almond flour
  • 120g of cottage cheese
  • 60g of cacao powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 6 tablespoons of powdered monk fruit
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • A dash of vanilla extract

Method

  1. To prepare these unique brownies, start by peeling the butternut squash, scooping out the seeds, chopping it into chunks, and roasting it in the oven for 50 minutes at 400F/200C/Gas Mark 6.

  2. Once slightly cooled, blitz the squash in a food processor along with the rest of the ingredients until you achieve a smooth consistency with no lumps.

  3. Next, prep a baking tray with parchment paper, pour in the mixture, throwing in some chocolate chips if you fancy an extra treat.

  4. Bake your creation for 45-50 minutes at the same heat setting. Patience is key so let the brownies cool completely before indulging in their deliciousness.
