This beautiful part of is home to Europe’s most important river, which is a key route for trade.
is known for its famous Gothic cathedral, its incredible Christmas market and its idyllic look.
While the Rhine River adds a scenic element to the city, it also serves a major purpose as a trade route.
It flows through six countries including Liechtenstein, , Germany, France, the Netherlands and Austria – it is one of Europe’s busiest waterways. One stretch of the river has even been named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The river is steeped in history and tradition, and has inspired artists and poets over the years.

At a huge 764 miles (1,230 kilometers), the river is the 11th longest in Europe, stretching from its source in Switzerland to its mouth on the North Sea in the Netherlands.
You can take a river cruise on the Rhine from which is a great way to see the surrounding scenery.
