legend partnered up with last year in the BBC series, Jay and David’s Touring Tool Shed, in which they explored various restoration projects.
Writing in his memoir about his experience on the show, David said it was the “best way” to spend his summer, but noted one difference he found with Jay.
He recollected in : “I’m very fond of the little routines that Jay and I came up with…they don’t redefine the boundaries of comedy, but they’re not supposed to. They’re just there to raise a smile and gently move the show along.
“And then there are the ones where I simply told Jay wince-inducing jokes…What’s certainly true is that some of them were so old that they were in black and white.
“In my opinion there are jokes which are so dusty that they are funny again on account of all the dust. Well, I hope so, anyway. That’s certainly the way they seem to me. Jay frequently begged to differ.”
