was gutted when a huge TV project was snatched away from him in a “devastating” move.
The star, who shot to fame in 2012 after competing on , finally made his dream of appearing in another reality show come true a year later in 2013 – but it got put on hold for six years.
All Rylan wanted was to be a star, which he originally applied for in 2007. He explained to Digital Spy: “I’ve got [no regrets] – none about X Factor.
“Even when did f***ing Signed by Katie Price. I’ve wanted to do Big Brother since 2007 and I worked so hard to get in there, and the day I was going in, it got taken away from me because it got leaked to the press. It was devastating.”
He said at the time: “The fact that I got to go in the celebrity version and walk out a winner – I am over the moon and I don’t regret one thing whatsoever.”

Even before he made a big impression on the public in X Factor, Rylan was a TV star. He made his debut back in 2002 acting as Harry in a project called Down to Earth. By 2011 he’d appeared in Katie Price’s modelling show, before going on to work at ITV’s Daybreak as a guest showbiz presenter.
But Big Brother has remained a huge part of the star’s life. He hosted Big Brother’s Bit on the Side until 2018, and was devastated not to be asked back when the show returned on ITV.
He told the panel: “Big Brother was a massive part of my life, it was my favourite thing in the world to do. And yeah, I knew, I mean for the past five years that it has been off I have been very vocal in saying it should come back, in my eyes it was and still is the best reality show out there.

“The real reality show and at that point I didn’t know what was going on with Big Brother and I said very much that I am a part of it.”
The star thought “naively and stupidly” that bosses would ask him back, and admitted: “I wasn’t [asked back] and it didn’t transpire to be, and you know I could be one of those people now that sits there and goes ‘No, it is what I wanted.’
“I would have gone back to Big Brother in a heartbeat and it was, it was quite difficult actually because I didn’t find out until nearly when everyone else found out which I was quite upset about. I was devastated.”
