star Sara Davies has revealed that her staggering weight loss has been the result of cutting out a food group.
The entrepreneur, 40, dropped three dress sizes last year by “cutting out sugar”, chocolate, cake, fruit and fruit juice, and cut down her alcohol intake.
The owner of arts and crafts supply company Crafter’s Companion who went from a size 16 to a size 12, recently told Prima: “I spent the end of last year cutting our sugar.
“And when I say cutting out sugar, I don’t just mean I stopped eating chocolate and cake. I stopped drinking fruit juice or eating fruit, and cut down my alcohol intake.”
Sara, who lost weight as a contestant on Strictly in 2021 but put it back on shortly after, also said people want a “magic bullet for losing weight but it’s a lifestyle overhaul that does it. It was really just lifestyle changes,” she continued.

“I’m not following a fad diet. I’m just understanding how my body processes sugar and I’m making lifestyle changes to support that.”
The TV star also had a health scare, being diagnosed last year as being a “borderline” diabetic and is at risk of developing type 2 diabetes in later life.
“I’m a big personality and I’m no different when I’m three dress sizes smaller – it really doesn’t bother me at all,” she said. “What does bother me is the health side of it.”
Sara regularly monitors her health, and a health check last summer showed she has polycystic ovaries, which led to the ditching of sugar.

Earlier this year, she shared that an embarrassing incident also prompted her to embark on her weight loss journey.
Following , she told Closer magazine: “I had to size up in all my clothes, and I was mortified. It was the biggest size I’d ever been wearing, and it really got to me.
“I stopped having chocolate and cakes, but also cut back on carbs and ate more veg than fruit.
“During filming we go for dinner as a pack of Dragons, and Peter Jones has very nice, expensive taste in wine, but I feel so much better for cutting it out.”
