Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron ‘arm-wrestle’ in awkward encounter outside Notre Dame

US President-elect Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron appeared to arm wrestle as they greeted each other in Paris on Saturday evening.

The two leaders shook hands as they attended the Notre Dame reopening ceremony in the French capital.

Video footage showed the two men gripping each other’s hands firmly and shaking numerous times.

Reacting to the footage on X, said: “I’ve missed the Trump-Macron arm-wrestles.”

Body language expert Judi James said of the exchange: “The ‘bros’ relationship between Trump and Macron seems to hold true with a very macho bonding greeting ritual that you’d normally see between Superheroes in movies or battleground comrades, with the tight clutching of the upright hands hinting at valor, courage and bonding.”

Big names from around the world are in attendance for the historic event.

The iconic monument has been under restoration for the last five years after it was severely damaged in a huge fire.

The reconstruction of the cathedral cost a staggering £800million.

Ukrainian President is in attendance, as is the Prince of Wales.

was seen having a one-on-one conversation with President-elect Trump.
