A hidden world from the Iron Age has been uncovered in Hedensted, Denmark.

from Vejle Museums found a large collection of weapons and artefacts believed to be more than 1,500 years old.
The discovery includes 119 lances and spears, eight swords, five knives, three arrowheads, an axe, a harness, fragments of a bugle, and parts of at least two oath rings.
Lead archaeologist Elias Witte Thomasen said: “From the very first surveys, we knew this was going to be extraordinary, but the excavation has exceeded all our expectations.”

One of the best finds was a piece of chain mail, which was often used as protection from swords.
Other bronze and iron objects were also found but have not yet been identified.
The museum said the items were likely buried as offerings, giving them a religious or ceremonial purpose.
Thomasen said: “The sheer number of weapons is astonishing, but what fascinates me most is the glimpse they provide into the societal structure and daily life of the Iron Age.

The discovery hopes to give insight into Denmark’s Iron Age.
“We suddenly feel very close to the people who lived here 1,500 years ago.”
The artifacts will eventually be displayed at the Vejle Cultural Museum.
In the meantime, archaeologists are continuing their search to uncover more items in the area.
The discovery has been described as a breakthrough and hopes to give insight into Denmark’s Iron Age and the lives of the people who lived during that time.
