And flights to the island also remain very affordable, with Skyscanner reporting prices as low as £21 to the island.

The two major airports on the island, Larnaca and Paphos, are served by direct flights from regional airports across the UK.

The island is a popular destination for British holidaymakers seeking beaches and sunshine.

As well as the beaches and sunshine, other attractions include the capital city of Nicosia.

Many people also flock to the resort town of Ayia Napa, which has beaches, famous nightlife and an underwater museum.

Holidaymakers may also want to cross the border into the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which also boasts its own beaches and pleasant towns including Kyrenia and Famagusta.
