Man Utd pen Nottingham Forest match statement as Storm Darragh postpones Merseyside derby

have released a statement ahead of tonight’s scheduled clash at Old Trafford against Nottingham Forest.

It comes after Storm Darragh spread havoc across parts of the country, with Everton’s clash against in the midday kick-off .

Weather warnings have been put in place across some parts of England and Wales, as Storm Darragh continues to disrupt road and public transport networks.

But, as things stand, United’s Saturday evening match with Forest is still scheduled to go ahead.

A statement posted to United’s matchday helpline, which was reposted by the official X account, read: “Today’s fixture at Old Trafford between and Nottingham Forest is scheduled to go ahead as planned.

“The club will continue to consult the relevant authorities throughout the day and will update supporters immediately if anything changes.

“We understand that fan travel will be disrupted by the weather so this fixture will not be included in the minimum number of games a season that season tickets must be used.”

Everton vs wasn’t the only match called off this weekend, with fixtures up and down the pyramid falling foul of Storm Darragh.

In the Championship, Plymouth Argyle vs Oxford United was postponed, while Bristol Rovers vs Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool vs Rotherham United were the same in League One.

As for League Two, Newport County vs Carlisle United and Notts County vs Colchester United were also called off.

Elsewhere in the sporting world, a meet an Aintree pencilled in for this afternoon was pulled early on Saturday morning.

Should the game go ahead as planned, it promises to be a tricky one for and United, who are looking to bounce back following Wednesday’s defeat away to .

Previewing the fixture, the Portuguese coach said: “It’s sad because it’s a very competitive league, it can change with just one result.

“We have to pass this phase, so I feel the same way, because before the game you guys were asking about the top four and now we return to this position (13th). We have to remain calm and keep on doing the job we’re doing.”

He added: “It’s really hard, I learn the same with wins because I focus on the performance. We won 4-0 against Everton but I saw so many things that were wrong. I saw the same against . We need time to think about things. We don’t have much time to train and have to prepare for the next opponent, but when I see the team, I think we’re improving in some aspects.”
