Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright sat on a sofa watching a match. This isn’t the start of a joke, but a clear reality of the direction football broadcasting is going.

The quartet ditched their smart attire and pitch-side studio for a more relaxed approach when taking in ‘s win over .

Their live show on YouTube was gripping from the second it kicked off. More gripping than the game itself.

Neville chowed down a pie, Keane and Wright argued over where they wanted to sit and Carragher ploughed through a bowl of sweets. And that was all in the first five minutes.

The tone was set – this is different to a Sky Sports or Amazon Prime broadcast.

Over 50,000 viewers tuned in and even Neville’s persistent “oOoOhhh” screams failed to dispel them.

“S**” became Neville’s catchphrase. Keane screamed “f***ing rubbish” at Marcus Rashford.

The shackles were off. Think Gogglebox on steroids.

Wright enjoyed every second of taunting his United-supporting guests (and so did those at home), while Neville had a face like thunder.

In 10 years these guys will be more famous for being YouTubers than treble winners.

You don’t want to love it but you can’t help it. This trial was a huge success.

“We could do this for every game couldn’t we,” Keane said. Don’t be surprised if they break away and go it alone.
