Inspired by German Christmas markets, Winchester offers an array of authentic food and drink stalls with mulled wine, comforting hot chocolate and more. It is the perfect place to toast the festive season.
In a Youtube video, David @slothyvlogs visited the world famous market on its opening day and took users around showing them a range of gifts, clothing and accessories, Christmas decorations, as well as food and drink on offer.
“The cathedral as the backdrop is amazing and that’s what really makes this market and the fact it’s always busy it just makes the atmosphere great”, said David.
He added: “It is one of the best in England and you can see why because it is a beautiful sight especially when it gets dark.

“Always recommend coming here on a weekend it gets absolutely rammed.
“I love it here for crafts and food. There are some really good street food options and the Cozy Crumble is a definite recommendation from me.
“You have to come and have the Cozy Crumble, it’s the best world.”
Upon entering the magical market guests are greeted with a massive cauldron of mulled wine with a man standing above stirring it.
Formidable Joy, a UK travel blog by Louise, certainly agrees that Winchester Market is among the best in the world.
“I feel like Winchester Christmas Market offers the same festive atmosphere as bigger and more popular markets like Winter Wonderland but instead with a slightly smaller and more intimate atmosphere”, said Louise.

She added: “When carol singers aren’t singing in the cathedral, wonderful Christmas music plays as you browse hand-picked goods from over 100 chalets. And, after dark, when you see the lights start to twinkle, there’s just an extra something special in the air.
“Winchester is a lovely historic city with tons of character and lots to do all year round. It’s easily accessible by train from major cities around the UK and is about a two-hour drive from London.”
Admission to the Christmas Market is free Market and it is open from Monday November 22 to Sunday December 22.
The market is open from 10am-6pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 8pm Friday and Saturday.
