Pop icon Kim Wilde has offered an inspiring update on her health journey, revealing how she’s transformed her lifestyle after facing a painful back injury.

Speaking to Kate Thornton on her , the 64-year-old opened up about her proactive approach to fitness and well-being, which includes weightlifting, yoga, and even learning to paddleboard.

“I’ve been doing weightlifting and stretching and yoga stuff and core stuff twice a week for a year now, and I’m feeling super, super strong,” Kim shared. “For a woman of my age, it’s a very smart thing to do. If you’re 64, you should be pulling weights and looking after your body and your bones.”

The singer, who released a new single Trail Of Destruction in August, revealed that a slipped disc prompted her to make significant changes.

“I had a slipped disc about a year or so ago. It all went hand in hand, and I thought, you know what, this is only going one way, this age thing.”

I’m going to get a personal trainer. I used a personal trainer many years ago, and I’m back on it with a vengeance.”

The Kids in America hitmaker’s disciplined efforts have paid off, with Thornton jokingly asking, “Is this why you look 34?” Kim credited her routine for minimizing pain, building strength, and improving her overall well-being.

“It certainly helps me in all kinds of ways, strengthening the points of my body that were weak,” she said. She also revealed her newfound love of paddleboarding.

“It’s been super, super fun,” she added. “Ever since lockdown, I’ve had this overwhelming urge to be as close to the sea as possible. I just jump in the sea at any opportunity, at any time of year, in any place.”

Kim also reflected on her decision to quit drinking alcohol a decade ago, which she says had a profound impact on her life. “Giving up alcohol had a huge impact on both my physical and mental health,” she told The Times.

“I sleep better and think more clearly. Also, my weight is no longer out of control. It has been the best thing for me, and I advise anyone about to hit their sixties: arm yourself with a sound health strategy, and you’ll enjoy it all the more.”

As a global music icon, Kim’s career skyrocketed with her 1981 smash hit Kids in America, which reached number two in the UK charts. Over the years, she has become a beloved figure in pop culture, winning a BRIT Award for Best British Female Solo Artist in 1983 and delivering a string of chart-topping hits.
