Tv fans are all very excited for as much-loved sitcom is set to make an epic return. Fans have been in a frenzy online sharing their theories for what might be in store for the special episode – but now spoilers have started to be spilled.
Stars and co-creators are due to bring the beloved sitcom to a close, but viewers aren’t sure quite how it’s going to be done and are keen to know whether or not Dave, Bryan or Jason will ever reveal what really happened on the infamous fishing trip.
The cast of the programme have been snapped filming various scenes, but those involved have reportedly been under strict instruction to keep filming details a secret. However, Steffan Rhodri – best known as coach driver Dave ‘Coaches’ Gooch – has now shared a snippet of what could be to come.
Speaking to , the actor teased: “My character Dave is a bit of an outsider. But they planned it so that with the last scene we did, which is the ending, we were all together and it was very touching.”
He added: “I can’t tell you anything about the Christmas special other than I’m in it. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I didn’t do the one five years ago so it’s 17 years since I’ve done it. It was like putting on a pair of old trousers. It was really lovely to hang out with them again.”

It’s been five years since the hit sitcom last aired, with the series having been left on a huge cliffhanger after Nessa (Ruth Jones) proposed to Smithy (James Corden).
The has teased what’s to come in the episode, with the synopsis reading: “It’s five years since we left Nessa down on one knee declaring her love for Smithy and asking him to marry her. And a lot has happened in those five years.
“In Barry, Bryn’s packing the Picasso in readiness for a trip to Essex; Stacey and Gavin are looking for new ways to spice up their seventeen year marriage and Gwen is behaving most strangely.

Gavin and Stacey fans have been given their first hint about the finale
“Nessa’s started a new business venture and Neil the Baby’s about to begin an apprenticeship with his dad.
“Over in Billericay Pam is stressing out at the prospect of playing hostess, not helped by a newly retired Mick practicing his golf swings in the living room and there have been more ups and downs in Pete and Dawn’s relationship.
“Join us on the journey to Barry and Billericay as we catch up with the Shipmans and the Wests for the very last time and maybe find out what exactly did happen on that fishing trip.”
Ahead of the finale, Ruth Jones and Joanna Page have paid a touching tribute to actress Margaret John, who played cheeky neighbour Doris on the hit sitcom. She died in 2011, aged 84 – with the character Doris leaving her house, next door to Gwen’s on Trinity Street in Barry, to Gavin & Stacey in her will.
Stacey actress, Joanna, told : “Working with Maggie John has got to be one of the highlights of Gavin & Stacey. I just love how her character got bigger and worse and saucier and sexier as the series went on.”
The Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special airs at Christmas Day at 9pm on One and iPlayer.
