ITV Loose Women receive huge surprise as Coldplay’s Chris Martin bursts onto the set

The set of ITV’s Loose Women has been gatecrashed by some famous names during the last 24 hours including music sensation Chris Martin.

The Coldplay lead took a seat with the show’s hosts for their first-ever 25-hour Talkathon event, encouraging viewers to break the silence and engage in conversations about mental health. This ambitious broadcast marathon, which kicked off on Thursday, December 5, and wrapped up during the regular slot on Friday, December 6, was a highlight of Loose Women’s 25th-anniversary festivities. It also supported ITV and STV’s Britain Get Talking initiative that has already inspired over 200 million discussions across the nation.

Ruth Langsford drew the remarkable Talkathon to a close on Friday, extending her heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the cause. The event streamed on ITVX from its launch to the conclusion and featured a rotating roster of presenters and celebrity guests, including Chris Martin.

In an unexpected twist on Thursday evening, panelist Charlene White surprised viewers by introducing Chris alongside celebrated chef Jamie Oliver. Both stars divulged personal strategies on managing mental wellness, reports .

Earlier in the programme, Olivia Attwood Dack joined forces with Christine Lampard, Kelle Bryan, and Katie Piper, where she recounted a treasured piece of wisdom inherited from her grandmother and mother about love and relationships: “Never date the wrong person because you can fall in love with anyone.”

On Friday morning, Loose Woman favourite Coleen Nolan temporarily switched sets to appear on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, where hosts Kate Garraway and Rob Rinder cheered on the Loose Women crew.

During a live exchange, Coleen disclosed her experience of the gruelling challenge. On being asked by Kate, “You must be shattered? ” Coleen quipped: “I actually don’t know where I am. I am so tired but I am so happy to see fresh faces!”

She went on to explain that the Talkathon had deepened her connections with the other Loose Women, as the panel engaged more intimately in discussions without time constraints.

“Because there has been no real restrictions over the 25-hour period, and we’re after the watershed, we’ve been able to have longer on topics and we’ve really opened up a lot about ourselves. Janet was really surprising. She really opened up and normally she is quite guarded with it, but she let the guard down,” Coleen revealed.

She added: “Men do find it hard to talk and we’ve discussed every topic possible over the last 20 odd hours and already the reaction has been really good.”

Reflecting on the unexpected support from stars like Chris Martin and Jamie Oliver, she shared insights on Chris’s coping mechanism: “He writes things he has been worried about or things he may be angry about and he writes them all down and gets it all out of his system and then he can carry on his day or go to sleep at night because he doesn’t keep it all here [in his head], he writes it all down. He’s actually amazing.”

Loose Women is on ITV1 weekdays at 12.30pm and on ITVX
