Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystal on Strictly It Takes Two
Strictly Come Dancing fans say they have spotted a problem with and his pro partner Jowita Przystal even as the couple made it through to the semi-final of the hit dance competition.
Reality TV star and his Polish pro partner Jowita only scraped a 26 score on Saturday, but despite being low down on the leaderboard, sailed straight through to the semis on the strength of the public vote.
Speaking to Strictly It Takes Two host , Pete defended the mistakes he made on the night.
Pete said: “I would be worried if I hadn’t got better in three months, but in the beginning I was god-awful. But here we are.
:
“I have a habit of over-thinking and annoyingly we’d been absolutely fine all rehearsals, it was actually one of the dances that I got the quickest and then I think I just overthought it on the night.
“But that’s what happens sometimes, that’s part of being human is making mistakes. Unfortunately for me I just seem to make them on Saturdays.”
Jowita chipped in to offer her defence too, adding: “With Pete he has this magical ability of just being here in the moment and I know that he can do it no matter what’s going on, he will go to the end and he will deliver.
“That dance was so beautiful, West Side Story is one of my favourites but Pete fell asleep after six minutes of watching it.
“Because he rehearsed so much but I couldn’t be more proud of him. But we are all human because we do mistakes too.
“And the beauty of that he didn’t even flinch like nothing happened.”
then posed an awkward question to Pete as she asked: “Pete we need to talk about this because there has been some criticism online about you still being in this competition. Which is bizarre to me but what do you have to say to that?”
Pete Wicks fired back and accused some viewers of ‘abuse’
Pete fired back at his online critics as he accused some social media posters of ‘abuse’.
He told Janette: “Yeah, I mean criticism is probably a light word, I think abuse might be better. But it is what it is, you can’t please everyone and I’m not here to please everyone, I’m just trying to learn something, I’m just a bloke that is having a go at something.
“And if I listened to all the negative stuff then I wouldn’t get out of bed in the morning.
“But on the plus side, there’s been loads of other lovely things said. It is what it is.”
Despite Pete’s comments, some fans thought they still spotted issues with Pete and Jowita following the chat.
@sarahlawson84 said: “Why does everything in this Pete and Jowita interview tell me training is going badly? The vibes seem really off #Strictly #ItTakesTwo”
@unknown28282922 added: “I think they both might be exhausted, learning two dances in one week is a lot.”
@northernjul said: “Seriously what is up with him, he constantly looks miserable….poor Jowita.”
@karen_renton said: “Pete does not look like he’s enjoying #Strictly anymore. That’s sad.”
Other fans backed Pete and Jowita despite their mistakes.
@kayla_louise96 said: “Pete and Chris havent danced before AT ALL but they’ve still improved every week and they do enjoyable dances, which is why theyre voted for #strictly #ittakestwo.”
@ryanthesoapking said: “Love Pete standing up the haters. He’s got every right to be in the semi final #Strictly #ItTakesTwo #StrictlyComeDancing.
“Sadly there were mistakes on Saturday night – poor footwork and bum was sticking out. However his frame has improved and the storytelling was lovely as well. Pete doesn’t deserve the abuse he receives. He is what the show is about.”
