At long last there’s a mom in the media who’s telling it like it is.
In the first episode of her new podcast, “Not Gonna Lie,” Kylie Kelce has already revealed some surprising truths, including the fact that this mom of three — with one on the way — isn’t the biggest fan of pregnancy.
“When I tell you that I cannot stand being pregnant, I mean it. I don’t have a fun time,” she said. The activist and wife of retired NFL star Jason Kelce cited nausea and food aversions as major issues for her.
“When you’re super pregnant and someone comes up to you and says, ‘Isn’t this just the most beautiful thing ever?’ I want to punch you in the face,” Kelce deadpanned.
She tempered that sentiment by saying, “I am so incredibly grateful to be able to get pregnant — unbelievably grateful. I have realized in my adult life that it is not as easy to get pregnant as we were originally led on to believe in high school.”
In addition to the physical challenges, pregnancy can include a lot of emotional hurdles.
For example, the Kelces have never done a big gender reveal “because I do think there’s always some degree of bias,” said Kelce.
After giving birth to their oldest, a daughter named Wyatt, Kelce got pregnant again … and because she “felt different in the beginning of that pregnancy,” she subconsciously convinced herself that she was having a boy.
“When I heard that it was girl, I completely lost it,” she admitted, adding that she had a “full, heaving cry for 30 minutes.”
Kelce felt free to admit her initial twinge of disappointment because her second daughter, Elliotte, “was the sweetest, most lovely little girl. And she still is.”
More than anything, Kelce says she hopes for “a healthy baby” because the miscarriage she had before her oldest was born “made pregnancy a different experience for me.”
