Sarah Ferguson desperate to star in Netflix show despite controversy over Harry’s series

has said she is desperate to star in a Netflix hit drama, despite the controversy surrounding the Sussexes’ own docu-series.

The Duchess of York, 64, revealed her interest in appearing on during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine.

Fergie told the show she has discussed the possibility with US producer and screenwriter, Shonda Rhimes, who helped create the period drama.

‘s ex-wife told ITV: “I am game on for Bridgerton. I have told Shonda Rhimes. I said, ‘Shonda, I am coming in’.”

The Duchess shared her ambition as she appeared alongside star, Sally Dynevor, whose daughter, Phoebe, played Daphne in the drama series’ first season.

If Fergie were to appear in the series, she would be following in the footsteps of and , the Duchess of Sussex, whose own docu-series first aired on the streaming giant in December 2022.

It told the story of Harry and Meghan’s courtship to their exit from royal life, when they stepped down as working royals and moved to North America.

Harry & Meghan rocked The Firm, as the Sussexes’ lobbed a series of bombshell allegations over the gates of Buckingham Palace. Its release also threatened to overshadow a visit to Boston by and at the same time.

A dropped just a day before the Waleses were due to appear in the US city for the Earthshot Awards ceremony.

William and Kate were considered to have been targeted in the docu-series in remarks made by Harry suggesting some Royal Family members married to fit a “royal mould” rather than for love.

While not mentioning his brother and sister-in-law by name, the remark has been widely construed by friends of the next in line to the throne to mean .

Further details revealed by the Sussexes included Harry expressing regret at his response to Meghan telling him royal pressures made her feel suicidal during a charity event at the Royal Albert Hall in 2019.

Harry also alleged screamed and shouted at him during a meeting about the future of the Sussexes outside the Royal Family.

The Sussexes have a multi-year, mulit-million dollar deal with , with two new non-fiction series in the offing.

“Curated” by Meghan, the first series is about the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship, according to .

Meghan is named as an executive producer for the show, which is directed by Michael Steed for Archewell Productions.

The second series promises to “pull back the curtain” on polo, a favourite sport of ‘s. It was mostly filmed at the US Open Polo Championship in Florida. A two-minute trailer provided a in November.

Harry and Meghan’s polo documentary is due to air on December 10 while the Duchess’s lifestyle show is expected to land early next year.
