The £18bn train line on London Underground map that’s finally getting one key thing added

Tired of having no mobile service while you’re commuting while sitting on your morning commute?

Well, the good news for users of the is that they will no longer have to worry as high-speed 4G mobile coverage is now available across the entire line.

This move is part of London Mayor Sadiq Khan and commitment to bring mobile connectivity to London’s entire transport network.

The Elizabeth Line opened in 2022, and the £18 billion line records around 70,000 passenger journeys every single day. Earlier this year, TfL and Boldyn worked to bring connectivity to certain stations on the line, and now the work has been completed in the remaining stations.

Those travelling from central London to stations including Whitechapel, Stratford, Canary Wharf, Custom House and Woolwich can now experience connectivity between stations.

The Mayor of London, , said: “Bringing mobile coverage to the Underground network is a key commitment of mine, so I’m delighted that the entire Elizabeth line network now has 4G connectivity.

“This is yet another step towards ensuring Londoners and visitors can stay connected on our transport network and means customers can access the latest travel information, keep in touch with colleagues, friends and family throughout their journey on the Elizabeth line.

“Growing numbers of underground Tube stations now have 4G and 5G services, with many more to come as we continue to build a better London for everyone.”

As well as the Elizabeth Line, the companies are also working to introduce 4G and 5G mobile coverage across the whole tube and Docklands Light Railway (DLR).

The plans have already seen work underway for mobile coverage to be expanded along the Northern Line towards Morden and between Kings Cross St Pancras and Moorgate. It is hoped to be completed by the end of the year or early 2025.

Passengers hopping on the tube from stations along the Piccadilly and Victoria Lines are set to receive mobile connectivity in as short as a few months.
