Legendary quarterback playfully jokes with former rival after sharing fishing pics
After being rivals on the field and competing against each other in two Super Bowls, Tom Brady and Eli Manning are back at it again – this time on social media.
The two retired quarterbacks traded playful barbs on Instagram after Brady on the weekend posted a so-called “thirst trap” pic of himself shirtless and holding a freshly caught fish.
Manning, who led the New York Giants to two Super Bowl wins over Brady’s Patriots, responded by posting a side-by-side shot with a pic of himself holding a much larger fish with the caption, “Cute minnow, Tom!”
Brady then playfully fired back in his Instagram Stories, asking Manning, “You use a helmet to catch that one too?”
The seven-time Super Bowl winner was referring to the famed Helmet Catch made by David Tyree in 2008 which led to New York’s eventual win over the New England.
Brady was keeping out of the cold after spending U.S. Thanksgiving in the broadcast booth for the game between host the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.
He captioned his original post “A little warmer than it looked in Buffalo last night,” referring to the frigid temperatures and snowy atmosphere for Sunday night’s game between the Bills and San Francisco 49ers.
The post also showed Brady playing golf and keeping his fresh-caught fish, which looks like snapper, on ice.
While calling the Cowboys-Giants game, Brady appeared to be caught by many eagle-eyed fans who pointed out that he was skimping on a Thanksgiving tradition: Eating Turducken.
When the time came for the legendary quarterback – who is known for his strict diet – to chow down on a leg of the bird, Brady appeared to take the smallest nibble and didn’t go back for seconds.
Perhaps that’s how he’s keeping his body in such great shape for his 15 million Instagram followers.
