Jimmy Fallon says Joe Biden managed to unite a divided nation during his final months in office after the president announced on Sunday he had pardoned his son, Hunter Biden.

Democrats are divided. Some of them are upset, while others are Hunter Biden,” the comedian quipped on “The Tonight Show” Monday. “Yep, both Republicans and Democrats are upset. It’s kind of nice. It’s like, for his last act as president, Biden united the country. Isn’t that nice?”

“Yep, Biden went back on his longstanding pledge to not use his presidential powers to protect his son,” he added. “In Biden’s defense, there’s a 99% chance that he forgot he said that.”

Hunter Biden was due to be sentenced later this month, facing prison time on gun and tax charges. His father’s pardon drew backlash from Republicans and some Democrats.
