I’m A Celebrity fans have been left confused following the recent comments of a now ex-campmate.
Dean McCullough became the second famous face to exit the jungle in Australia following the public vote, after journalist and Loose Woman panelist Jane Moore.
The Radio 1 host took on the most trials of any contestant in the current series during his time in camp.
A day after he made his exit from the show, he has been revealing all the secrets from his spell on the show.
However some viewers were left bemused after his recent comments during an appearance on the latest episode of companion show, I’m A Celebrity Unpacked.
Dean McCullough became the second celeb to leave the jungle
Don’t miss…
Dean was a guest on the ITV2 show presented by trio Joel Dommett, Kemi Rodgers and last year’s winner Sam Thompson.
Asked about his initial reactions and whether or not he has enjoyed after spending a night back in luxury, Dean revealed he missed the campbeds.
He said: “It was awful. I had the worst night’s sleep the whole time since I’ve been out here. The camp beds are so comfortable. They’re so flat and the sounds of the jungle, the fact that you’re with people. I don’t know. I didn’t like the air conditioning, I didn’t like the bed – in a five star hotel – thanks ITV!
“I really miss it. I’ll give anything to be back in there beause I miss my campmates. I really miss them and I miss doing the chores. I sang in my hotel room this morning and no one sang back.”
Dean also claimed he missed doing the chores around camp which brought a startled reaction from the show’s presenters.
Dean was asked about Maura and GK Barry
However, it was when Dean was asked about his feelings watching the show and if he planned on revisiting earlier episodes he featured in that got fans scratching their heads.
He said: “I can’t wait to watch the first episode. It took us four days to film that first episode. Four days. It was like a feature film.
“They (friends and family) keep talking about the memes. You’ve been memed up. It’s my dream to become I meme. I’m now a meme.”
Fans were shocked to hear Dean claim it took multiple days to film the first episode, which primarily inolved the celebrities racing to camp. One posted on social media: “Four days to make the first episode?”, while others claimed they hadn’t seen a meme about him as they added: “Liteally not seen a single Dean meme.”
Hosts Joel and Sam who have also appeared on the show as campmates, didn’t let on whether or not this was the same as their experience.
However, fans were pleased to see that fellow Unpacked Ruth Langsford pulled him up on some of his comments.
It was as discussion moved to wards Love Islander Maura Higgins and podcaster GK Barry, who were seen having an open chat as they washed their clothes in the creek. The panel was asked about the two, who haven’t been seen chatting together much during the series.
Dean said: “I’m a boy’s boy and a girl’s girl. I’m quite lucky, I get to mingle with the whole gang. But these girls were such a joy to be around because they’re big personalities they’re all very different but equally quite similar. They’ve all got something to say and they’re all strong women and sometimes when you’re put strong women together, sometimes you see clashes. There was none of that. They all gas each other up.”
However Ruth was quick to call out the stereotype as she replied: “When you say that, oh when you put strong women together sometimes you get clashes. People assume that and I hate to say it boys it’s usually men who assume that. And we’re asked that all the time about Loose Women, but do you really get on? Yes we really all get on.”
Fans loved the moment with one saying: “Ruth is putting Dean in his place” followed by a praise hands emoji.
I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX followed by Unpacked on ITV2.
