Yellow ice warnings have been issued
The Met Office has issued several yellow weather warnings as temperatures are expected to drop in the next few days.
Warning of potential disruption and risk of crashes, the national weather service has issued a yellow alert for ice from 9pm tonight to 10am tomorrow for Scotland.
The disruption could be worsened on Wednesday in the north of Scotland, as strong winds are forecast. A warning for wind will be in place between 4pm on Wednesday and 9am on Thursday.
The stated: “A band of rain and snow will move east across Scotland this afternoon and evening (which could lead to some lying snow on higher transport routes).
“Once this clears temperatures will quickly fall during Tuesday evening and ice is likely to form readily on untreated surface during the evening and overnight into Wednesday morning.”

Two weather warnings have been issued
At present, there are three yellow warnings in place for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Chris Bulmer, said: “At this time is looks like the unsettled conditions will continue into the weekend with a deep low-pressure system probably crossing the UK into Saturday bringing strong winds and rain to some areas. Weather warnings will be issued as the details of the developments and hazards become clearer.
“Given the potential for disruption from this system it is important to keep up to date with the latest forecast.”
