apologised to after a surprising Christmas confession left him feeling disappointed.
The TV duo returned for Tuesday’s instalment (December 3) of , sharing the latest headlines with viewers across the country.
During the show, they were joined by Lorraine Kelly, who shared what was coming up on her programme after GMB had concluded.
While speaking to the Scottish presenter, Ed asked where she stands on mistletoe, questioning whether it is a “thing of the past” or “alive and well” in Lorraine’s family.
The 65-year-old didn’t seem too fussed, responding: “If you can get a hold of it. I just put it as a decoration.”
Ed then revealed that Susanna hasn’t embarked on the classic Christmas tradition of being kissed under the mistletoe.
However, the politician was even more gutted when Lorraine admitted she was in the same boat as Susanna.
“Neither have I,” she quipped. “I’ve never either.”
The two presenters informed their co-star that being kissed under the mistletoe is “not a thing”, leaving him visibly disappointed.
Susanna reiterated: “Sorry, Ed. It’s not a thing.”
The newsreader seemed lost for words as Lorraine began to laugh, pointing out that he was now “upset”.
Ed tried to change their views, declaring: “I think you’ve just got to open your lives to the possibility.”
Far from convinced, Lorraine brutally shut him down with the response: “No. You’re okay.”
Meanwhile Susanna agreed, adding: “I don’t feel like I’m missing out.”
During the programme, Susanna and Ed announced that their 1 Million Minutes campaign is back.
The initiative aims to encourage viewers to pledge their time to charities that tackle the issues of loneliness.
