Narinder Kaur first came to prominence when she appeared on Big Brother in 2001
Born to Indian immigrant parents she has said they were very poor when she was growing up. She openly admits she entered the Big Brother house because she wanted to be famous. “I’d tried my hand at acting, even did a Bollywood film! But for an Indian, it was too hard to get opportunities…I was typecast all the time.
“The industry then, was pretty much how it still remains – unfortunately extremely hard for people of colour to get a gig. I felt BB was a platform to show me to give me the right publicity to be taken seriously,” she wrote on her blog.
She was the first British Indian person to appear on the show, which at the time was a juggernaut that catapulted the housemates to media stardom.
During her time in the house, she struck up a close friendship with the eventual winner Brian Dowling but on an episode of Steph’s Packed Lunch in 2022 she admitted they no longer speak. “I don’t talk to Brian anymore. We had a big fall out,” she said adding it was “too much to go into’. “I know people want us to make up, but we won’t be making up, no.”
The mum of two, appears to live a glamorous life with her husband in Leicester. While her is currently private she regularly posted images from their exotic getaways.

Narinder Kaur has said her remarks about Princess Catherine were “stupid”
However, she has been open about her ups and downs. Last year she spoke of her horror after Laurence Fox shared an old upskirting photograph of her. The image was taken years earlier before it was made a criminal offence.
Fox shared it via X and it was reportedly seen hundreds of times causing Narinder great distress.
Narinder has also admitted she has been the target of racism confessing she and her husband were worried about allowing their chldren to leave the house during the “race riots” last August.
“Growing up in the 80s, I faced my own battles with racism. The National Front would hand out leaflets outside my school, spreading their vile propaganda. I was spat at and chucked around by other children, simply for being different,” she wrote in The Mirror.
“It is deeply unsettling to realise that now, in 2024, we are facing a resurgence of that same vile bigotry. It is heartbreaking to see the fear in the eyes of the new generation, children and young adults who should be growing up in a society free of such hatred. The attacks in Leicester are not isolated incidents but part of a disturbing trend of rising racism and xenophobia across the UK,” she said.
